Hi i just receive the latest update but i got some problems. On my first try of updating it, download could not complete. I restarted the computer and this time it updated perfectly fine. This has not happen once but quite frequent whenever there is update on NIS engine and IPS. I would like to know what the problem is(Update failed to complete issue). By the way i am using Norton Internet Security 2010 on Vista Home Basic.

The latest engine update needs two reboot to fully install.
If it happened by you, then everything is normal. :)

Hi clay9477,
In one case, a weak wifi connection was causing the LiveUpdates to not install properly:

When was this version 17.7... made available for liveupdate? I just installed NIS 2010 four days ago, and did the liveupdate immediately upon successful install and activation. As far as I remember, the program showed in "About" link, version 17.6.
I also used the computer late the day after installing the NIS 2010. The machine: laptop, Windows XP sp3 and currently the windows is updated two days ago. Internet connected wirelessly; computer not in operation continuously.
Again, when was this update made available, but even more, WHEN WILL MY NIS 2010 RECEIVE THE UPDATE?

Sorry to say g-cafe-c, it's not nice to shout in forums and certainly not in CAPITALS!
If you read the top of this forum regularly, you should have discovered the post below and also should have discovered that the update is rolled out in a phased manner.
I received the update on two of my machines last monday, on two others i received them yesterday. All of them are Dutch language versions, which generally are rolled out a bit later. And as long as your Norton functions well, you do not need to worry about bad protection

So now I read the message on the top of the forum. Maybe I compalined too early; but I do not know if I am one of those who will receive the update for trial purposes or not. I do not want to received THAT particular update if how it affects users' machines in uncertain or risky. We have no way to control which program updates to receive. We only can accept available updates, or turn off automatic live updates and do not run any liveupdates. If we receive the program update to version 17.7 and it works badly for us, must we wait for some other program update to reverse version 17.7 or must we uninstall Norton Internet Security 2010 and reinstall it and go through the new liveupdates again?

Ive not had any problem with the newest update you speak of, I run xp sp3 not a super large hd pc either.
I hear you about not being able to stop it if it has bugs and updates but norton is pretty good about putting out patch updates if its a big issue and this forum is very helpful even if there isnt a patch. Its best to come here and browse as often as you can just for info.
