You are asked if you use the regular uninstall if you want to save your settings. Note that if you use the norton removal tool, you lose all or most of your settings.
I just finished an uninstall and reinstall, followed by multiple live updates/reboots and now have gotten my desktop computer up to the 19.5.... It also kept my settings and identity safe entries. Note just in case make sure you export a copy any identity safe entries first.

Is there any ETA on the fix?

All,
We believe we've found the cause for this issue and are working on a fix. I'll update when I have more information. Unfortunately, I don't have an ETA at this time. We are actively working on correcting this.

Tim,
Like many others, I'm one of those poor souls using English version 19.2 who have been unable to get to version 19.5. I just want to let you know that we appreciate your courteous, considerate, calm and matter-of-factly kind of approach to these situations. In fact, most will understand they must be as unpleasant to you as they certainly are for each one of us.
We look forward to your further instructions on how to procede.
Thank you.

I resolved the problem like many using the Norton Removal Tool then reinstalling NIS 2012. I was able to update to the latest.

wow so many people with too much free time in their hands.... for crying out loud why waste time to uninstall etc... and not just wait a little more until the people at Symantec sort it out and fix it? I mean you are not going to die if you do not get 19.5 right away or put your PC in jeopardy.

Hello aydin1954,
I understand other's concerns with uninstalling and reinstalling the software. While this will solve the issue, it takes some time to do that. Time is valuable to people who don't have a TARDIS. ![]()
We're working on correcting this so that a uninstall/reinstall is not necessary.

Having a TARDIS I have been to the future, I know when and how the fix is coming but unfortunately I cannot say to avoid disrupting this timeline ![]()

You must also have a lot of time on your hands to make your comments. I have been trying to have this matter fixed for over 4 months while Norton keeps atempting to figure out how to solve the problem.

Hello mitchflorida,
Your issue might be a different issue than the one in this thread, as this particular issue has only been around for the past couple days. ![]()
