It is time to renew my Norton Internet Security subscription, I am now on NIS 2011 (version 18.7.0.13).
Where do I find the link to download NIS 2012 so that I could install NIS 2012 on my computer?
Do I need to remove NIS 2011 before installing NIS 2012 or it doesn't matter?

Hi lumix,
If you are renewing from within your Norton Account, please see these instuctions. - https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp
To Upgrade to NIS12, Open NIS and click Support > Check for New Version and follow the on screen prompts.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks, Dave.

Just remember to run Live Update after your upgrade, rebooting where required, until you are up to date.

If I were you I would wait untill later, I just went back to 2011 and happy. On 2012 nothing but a pia ( look through the fourms) and you will see all the problems. I should have waited a few more months.
I'm on my backup machine and it locked up trying to log into idsafe. Its 2012 still and going back to 2011 .

I upgraded to NIS 2012 before I saw your reply, so it is a little too late for me as I am now on NIS 2012.
I did looked at the Editor's review at CNET, if I recall correctly, CNET did not have anything bad to say about NIS 2012, except NIS2012 offers nothing new other than a different user interface (something like that).
The installation was smooth, I hope I do not have issues with NIS 2012.

Thanks to the people for the replies/advice, here are my experiences in upgrading to NIS 2012:
The installation was smooth, I did not encounter any errors and all went well with NIS 2012 running now.
I did find a different method to upgrade to NIS 2012:
- Launch NIS2011
- Click Support menu
- Select New Version Check
This will open up a web page with instructions on how to upgrade. I run the NIS2012 installer and NIS 2012 was installed thereafter.
Upon completion, NIS prompts to restart the computer which I did. When the computer is back up again, I ran Live Update and now I am now running and fully protected.
Here are three bad points about the NIS 2012 installation:
1. The download of NIS 2012 installation files which is about 125MB is rather slow. I have high speed internet and it took longer than what I expected to download 125MB. I even went to a different site to download a large file to confirm my internet connection is not the issue, the file was downloaded within my expectations but NIS 2012 was crawling. I didn't track the time but I think it took about 15-30 minutes to download 125MB.
2. The installation will create 2 icons on my desktop. Upon completion of installation, the installer remove only one icon but not the second icon. I manually deleted the second icon from the desktop myself. I also manually deleted the downloaded Norton installation files from my computer.
3. NIS2012 will launch a gadget on the top right corner of the desktop. Being not a gadget fan, I thought the NIS 2012 gadget is a nuisance. I close the gadget, restart my computer and thankfully the gadget did not relaunch.
Overall, I am satisfied with the smooth NIS 2012 installation, I can get to work on other things instead of having to deal with installation errors.

Thanks for coming back and letting us know how the upgrade has worked for you. I found the upgrade from n360v5 (very similar to NIS11) to be quite smooth. v6 (similar to NIS12) seems to be a lighter program and quicker to cold boot.
I hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of NIS12.
Remember, you can help here too.
Cheers, Dave.

I just upgraded to NIS 2012. It went smoothly except forone thing: it shows today's date incorrectly (my PC shows the correct date). How can I reset the date in NIS 2012?

Hello DanC
Please try hitting Support, Subscription status. Also try rebooting your computer and make sure you have all the latest updates. Thanks.
