Upgrading from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012

Hi all,

I've decided it's time to upgrade from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 and I'd like some advice on the best way to go about it please. Currently I'm running a 3-licence version, which will expire in December, of  NIS 2011 on a desktop (XP Home SP3) and 2 laptops with W7 Home Premium SP1  - 1 each of 32 and 64-bit.

Can I download NIS 2012 just once and install it on each of the 3 PCs over NIS 2011 without any problems being likely to arise? When I install NIS 2012, do I just go to my account and update the details there?

I'll be very grateful for any adviceand info you can give me. Thanks.

Madeline

Re: Upgrading from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012

Hi Madeline,

Simply open the main Norton window, click Support > New Version Check, or right-click the Norton system tray icon and click Check for New Version.  You can install NIS 2012 right over NIS 2011 and most of your settings will be retained.  If you use Identity Safe, it would be a good idea to back up your saved data beforehand, just to be sure that, if there are any issues during the upgrade, your saved log-in information will not be lost.

Hi SendOfJive,

Many thanks for your clear and concise instructions. I did as you said and I now have NIS 2012 installed and activated on all 3 PCs. Thanks again!

Re: Upgrading from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012

Hi SendOfJive,

It was all a lot easier than I expected!  Once I'd downloaded the installer and set it going, I didn't have to do much else, so I was well pleased with it all.
