Urgent! - 3 PC Subscription Renewal Problem For NIS 2011

About a week ago, I renewed my subscrption. Days remaining show OK on the PC I renewed on. However, on the other two PCs I installed NIS 2011 on, the days remaining show 3 days?

I renewed with a retail purchased box 3 PC ver. of NIS 2011.

Hi Donziehm,

Did you manually use the new subscription key and activate it on the other two PC's also?

If not, can you please try that and let us know if that works?

Prasanna.

Try using Support / Subscription Status on the two other PCs and see if that rectifies it.

If not then maybe you have to enter the KEY you purchased in them also since using a new KEY is like a new clean installation.

If there's still a problem then check with the OnLine Customer Support folk via the CHAT link as below:

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.

Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Please let us know how you get on ....

No. I was wondering about that.

Other two PCs are 700 miles away; my daughter's and son's PCs. I there anyway this can be done internally since they are total nerds with PCs?

Re: Urgent! - 3 PC Subscription Renewal Problem For NIS 2011

Hi Donziehm,

Nope, its not done automatically and you have to manually activate it on the other two PC's also.

We have introduced a new feature in our 2012 products called "Norton Management" which is now "Norton One". This was introduced for the purpose of account management only. With that you can activate and manage all our products installed in your machines from one place. It would allow you to install, uninstall, activate etc.

This is not available with NIS 2011. So you can try this way, try upgrading your 2011 product to NIS 2012 and just try out the Norton Management option there. But guess even for that the other two PC's should also have NIS 2012 installed. If somehow you can just make your kids upgrade the product by right clicking on the Norton Icon and clicking on Check for new version that would take them to the rest of the process. You could say, if they can do that i would have ask them to activate itself... :smileyvery-happy: but am just giving you an option. Now the choice is yours.

Let us know if you need any help from our side.

Regards,

Prasanna.

I like Huwyngr's "check support/check subscription status" as being the easiest to find, and the least likely to bung up.  FWIW. :smileywink:  It may prevent a long drive.

Thanks. I just e-mailed them the product key and had them cut the key from the e-mail and past it into the Renewal product key box and whalla - subscription renewed.

BTW - Having to create a new Norton recovery disk because the product key changed is a bit bogus is it not? I will have spend money to mail my kids new recovery CDs since they can't create them since their burners are a POC.

Oh well ... glad it worked .....

I'd try the Support / Subscription Status first rather than upgrading to 2012:

Mainly because some users are having problems with 2012 especialy with Identity Safe and if you/they use it you definitely don't want to mess that up at remote ....

If Subscriptions Status does not solve it -- and it is automatic without them having to log in or anything -- you could give them the KEY that you used to activate and let them enter it. It isn't high tech and although the KEY is a mouthful if you email it to them they can copy it from the email into the clipboard and paste it into the box when asked.

I don't remember if that needs them to log into the MyNortonAccount or not so for that they would need to know your email address used to create it and your password. If for some reason you don't want them to know that password (you wouldn't dream of using it for anything else would you? <g>) then there is a workaround that I've used under just those circumstances -- I changed my password on the MyNortonAccount to something very simple, like the town I live in, which is easy to do by logging into your MyNormanAccount, and as soon as the family member had done the necessary access of the MyNortonAccount I changed it back again to something secure.

FWIW but let's hope the simple solution works ....

donziehm:

Rather than make new boot tools, I would think that the new key, which they already have, should work on the present tool.  Another user had the activation key come up automatically, I believe.  If you have one for your machine, I would suggest a trial run.

Re: Urgent! - 3 PC Subscription Renewal Problem For NIS 2011

I also have a problem with 2 of my Norton protection subscriptions, one ending in 3 days and the other not ending until September 14, 2012. I have a renewal box coming up everyday stating my Norton subscription is ending in 3 days. Do I let that subscription run out?  Will I stay protected until September 14, 2012 with the original subscription?

Thank you for your urgency in this matter.
