Hi

I have used Fasthosts sitebuilder for my website www.thegardenfarmer.co.uk and I would like to verify it with Norton but am having difficulty doing so.

I have read on this forum that Fasthosts sites do not have access to the root directory.

It is possible, however, to add meta-tags to the home page. There are two meta-tag boxes, one titled 'description' and one 'keywords'. These boxes do not accept html. They will accept my typing in 'norton-safeweb-site-verification' and also the 128 alphnumerical character code that I have been given. However when I ask Norton to verify the site it still comes up with a message saying that the verification has failed.

Hello Bryan,

I have triple-checked the authentication code in your keywords tag and I count only 126 characters there.  Can you add the the full 128 character string to your keywords tag?

Adding the code in this manner will not allow for the automated verification, but should help the Safe Web team manually verify your ownership.

The authentication code in your keywords meta tag is properly placed and I shall notify the Safe Web team who will manually verify site ownership. Allow them a day or two to respond back to you in this thread.

Once ownership has been verified, your site will be queued for the rating evaluation.

Be sure the code remains in place until ownership is verified. Leaving the code in the meta tag will not affect your site or the visitor's experience.
