Virus MALREMTOOL not dedected and blocked by NORTON

I have the Norton Internet Security version 17.9.0.12 in my computer. It automatically runs the "LiveUpdate".

Even so, my computer has been infected this morning at 9:30am (March 29th, 2012) by the virus and malware MALTREMTOOL.

How come NORTON INTERNET SECURITY did not catch and blocked MALTREMTOOL ?

Now the configuration of my computer is modified. I cannot see the files in my C: drive nor see the Control Panel links on the "Star Menu" of windows.

In summary, NORTON failed to protect my computer....

Re: Virus MALREMTOOL not detected and blocked by NORTON

Same thing happened to me on March 29. Norton completely missed it. I ran MALBYTES to get rid of it. Only remaining problem is that I had to recreate my desk top and all of my START menu folders are no longer in existence. I notice in another response that "Quads" said not to clean the temp folders. I don't know why, but it's a little late in the game for that now. Hey Norton, what gives ??? We pay some pretty good money to you to "protect" our PC's and you failed.

You don't know why I stated not to clear the TEMP folders, well you found out why.

"Only remaining problem is that I had to recreate my desk top and all of my START menu folders are no longer in existence."

All of that can be placed back in it's rightful place if you didn't clear the TEMP folders.

Thanks Quads, I wish I had known that before hand. Still, I can't figure out why Norton 360 didn't catch this. Malremtool.exe has been out there for awhile.
