ok.  I have unplugged my pc and will see tomorrow if I can power it again.

Do you think it could have something to do with the GMER scan I did earlier?  Did you manage to get any relevant information from the GMER log?

Most indications are that it is a hardware problem, which may entail a trip to the repair shop to find out what blew.  I think it's more a matter of incredibly bad timing. I had one machine that chewed up hard drives for breakfast.  It could be that failing to run the full GMER was an indication that something wasn't working properly.

Actually I found out why my PC could not power (a problem with the fuse in the plug!) ... so was nothing to do with the virus..just a bad timing. 

I have still got the virus on the system though....do you think i need to run a GMER scan again?

If it is giving you too much trouble jeffWill, just check the first three items on the GMER and run that.  Then check the last items and run that separately.  It might be more willing to run.

I looked at your log.  It looks good.  I'm just checking to confirm that you split the log into two parts. This log has no registry items and no files included.  If you did not split the scan, could you try again in safe mode with only the last three items checked.  This log has up to the Library.
