Whenever i'm running a scan i'm noticing that viruses like Trojan.Emcodec, VBS.runauto and backdoor.Rustock.A to name a few. While Norton Internet security 2009 is scanning them it's ignoring them, failing to pick them at all. Does anyone know how to remove them and clean up my laptop?

Hi G665,
Kindly Confirm:
1. Is your Norton program detecting the viruses and informing you that it is unable to remove the threat?
2. Is it just showing "checking for ..."?
1. If the answer is "Yes", try to run a scan from Norton program in Safe mode. Also, Download/install Malwarebytes Antimalware program, update the program, reboot your computer to Safe mode and then run a full system scan from Malwarebytes. Click Malwarebytes AntiMalware to download it, it's a free download software which may help you in detecting/removing such threats.
2. If the answer is "Yes", no need to worry. When you perform a scan, it will check for commonly affected files(temp files, host files) for the presence of critical threats such as w31.stration.d@mm, w32.sality.u, trojanhorse, adware.conspy, spybouncer etc. It is just tracing whether any of those files has similar characteristics of those threats and if it is found, the Norton program will prompt for repair/remove.

G665,
Yes, it is indeed the 2nd option.; So, no need to worry. If you still need to confirm, go to the History > Scan results. There it will show if any threat is detected/removed/quarantined/unattended. Thanks for the screenshot for confirming.
