Whilst I appreciated that these change very quickly, the point is that Norton is completely missing them.

If I run Malware software I get quite a few responses , all of which Norton doesn't detect.

I managed to fix it with a restore, and after getting the guardian one today and fixed it the same way (10 mins and no cost). I'm even less impressed with Norton.

I know where it came from now, so that should solve some headaches.

IF we have to subscribe to other software than can fix this then it I'm sure Norton can keep up to speed ?

For some that have messed around with their registries, well done, but I know of many that have and got other problems with accounts and software.

As we pay for a service is it unreasonable to expect a return?

If the answer is no, then surely subscribing to someone who can is the way to go.

I do understand your point. It would be nice to think that all these third party tools could belong and become part of your Norton product. The problem as has been said so many times in these forums is that no AV product is 100% effective 100% of the time. Norton has pulse updates and pumps out updates all the time. As quickly as Norton is resolving the writers of malware are designing ways to overcome Norton. If you only had Malwarebytes and were free in your internet activity, then after 6 months if you installed Norton you probably would find that Norton discovers items that Malwarebytes did not.

So what people are doing here is finding and recommending easy tools to achieve small corrections. Just running malwarebytes will not resolve all issues, which is why others have recommended other action that needs to be taken either before or after.

I joined the forum just so I could say thank you to Quads and others for helping me access a solution to this very very very annoying problem. Couldn't find info from a reliable source anywhere. All seems to be fixed now. Fingers crossed.

I went into the control panel, like you mentioned, made the adjustment, and I am still unable to save it...

You are crossing over threads in your posts, you are to save the registry file then run it, like others have done, like the Bleeping Computer instructions now.
