W7 Home Premium and NIS 2010

I just upgraded from XP Pro to W7 Home Premium.

I installed W7 64 bit version.  While installing Norton Internet Security 2010 from my original CD I got the 'blue' screen.  A second attempt completed the install, but when trying to launch the program there was no response.  I eventually uninstalled it using the Windows uninstaller.  The W7 error analysis program provided the following:

Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck 7e Parameters = 0xfffffffc0000005

0xfffff88001136915, 0xfffff88002fc5678, 0xfffff88002fc4ee0

Repair action Systems files Integrity check and repair

Result: failed Error code = 0x490

Thoughts?

Re: W7 Home Premium and NIS 2010

Hi,

In the mean time we narrow down the issue you face, can you please try installing our latest NIS 2012.

The trial version is available @ http://www.norton.com/nis12

Just install the trial version and you can activate the product with your NIS 2010 key. Let us know if that installlation goes fine without issues.

Prasanna.

WWOLFE01:

Norton might have been a bit shaky on the Win 7 64 bit in 2010.  There is no need to install 2010 anyway as you are entitled to upgrade each year for free as long as your subscription is current.

I would suggest uninstalling the 2010 version through add/remove, if possible.  You may have to uninstall it in safe mode if it continues to blue screen.  Run the Norton removal tool, and reboot.

Then install NIS 2011.  NIS 2012 is already available, but it might need a few more tweaks.  Use your current key to activate.

Hi,

Regarding the system restore issue which you face, one of microsoft forums say that you can perform a kind of clean boot to get rid of that problem.

If you just want to give a try, please go through this link.  Once it goes fine, try installing Norton again.
