Thanks for all the help. Honestly, I'm inclined to leave well enough alone now that it is working. If I remove Windows Defender, I get the constant reminder that Windows is not safe, blah, blah, blah... Shows up by the clock in the task bar.

I found 2 reports that shows "cdrom.sys" and  "wuaucldt.exe" with Norton detecting "hacktool.Rootkit!inf"

They are different Malware or Combo infection(s),  of note is the  "wuaucldt .exe" as in  "wuaucldt[space].exe"

Each to be looked at and treated differently, which also means there are probably more variations out there than just these 2
