Where do I put the activation code for renewal?

Hello Norton community,

I wonder if anyone can help me, I purchased and installed internet security 2010 last year. A few weeks ago I purchased internet security 2011 for the wife - purchased from WH Smiths on a disk. My Norton is now about to expire but I cannot see where to 'renew' my version with the activation code from my wifes version. It is a 3 license version.

Any help would be most appreciated, many thanks in advance.

On the bottom there's a small text, next to your subscription status, saying 'Renew'. Click on it and on the next screen, use the bottom half to enter the key of the wife's Norton and press the little arrow next to it.

That should do.

Maybe you need to enter the email address/password of the Norton account, which the wife's Norton is registered to, but most of the time, when already registered, it's not necessary anymore.

You are also egiligable for a  free uprade to Norton IS 2012, which you can downlaod here :

www.norton.com/nis12 (English version). If you need a different language version, just enter : www.norton.com/XX/nis12, where xx represents the country code for your version (f.i. de for Germany and nl for Netherlands)

Why did you buy NIS 201 when NIS 2012 has been out for months? You can upgrade to NIS 2012 for free. To put your key just open up NIS and click on "subscription" in the main GUI. Should be right in front of you when you open it up. Then copy and paste it in. Its that easy.

Re: Where do I put the activation code for renewal?

In the 2010 version it says 'Renew' in the GUI.

The keys from 2006 onwards are valid to activate, so that's no problem. In Holland NIS 2011 was rather cheap, when NIS 2012 came out.

It's called smart shopping -- buy the cheapest legitimate version regardless of the version date .... and if you don't want to do so many updates just get the current copy by download.

How much cheaper can you get then buying NIS 2012/3 user license for $25 from Amazon? If that is too expenseive then you better find a higher paying job.

$25 doesn't buy anything in the UK which is where the OP is located.

Re: Where do I put the activation code for renewal?

Many thanks for everyones' informative replies especially hvgsel who was bang on with the solution - I kept trying the other 'renew' button which kept taking me to ...

The reason I bought 2011 is because that was the only one for sale in the shop and they were doing a discount on it. :smileyhappy:

Thanks again !

Thanks for letting us know you found the solution that worked.

Don't worry about buying the NIS 2011 .... we've all done this when it's cheaper than more recent versions and then just used the KEY on the uptodate version which you can download from Norton ....
