Windows 8 64 bit and NIS 2013 boot issue....

Hey guys. New user here and just installed NIS 2013 yesterday. Weird problem going on here. Before I was using the built in windows defender and windows firewall. Before install of NIS 2013. I disabled both. Installed NIS 2013 and ran live update. Followed by a reboot. Everything seemed to be fine. But, as of today. This does not happen every single time. Its a hit and miss. When I restart my computer. Once on the first screen of Windows 8 before logging in. My keyboard and mouse is completely dead. I cant use any of the keys and my mouse shows no cursor. My only choice is to hit the shutdown button and power on the pc again. I have a Logitech illuminated keyboard and m500 mouse.

Using latest Logitech Setpoint version for Windows 8. I never had trouble with Windows 8. It seems like since I have installed NIS 2013. This is when the weird boot issue started. I am wondering if it has any thing to do with Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection being on in NIS 2013? I noticed it is a feature specfically for Windows 8. I am just throwing it out there as a complete wild guess. I am using the default settings in NIS 2013. Has anyone else ran into this issue or maybe its not been reported as a possible cause with NIS 2013 being the culprit?

Getting back to my kb/mouse issue. As you know my keyboard is backlit. Just before the very first screen comes up. When its booting right. My lights go dark and then come on. But, when this problem happens. All my keyboard lights are off and like I said. Kb/mouse is completely unresponsive even with the mouse cursor being gone. Never ever had trouble with this kb/mouse combo in Windows 7 64 bit. But, I was not using NIS 2013 either. And like I said. Never had this problem either in Windows 8 until NIS 2013 was installed.

Hi FattiesGoneWild,

Have you tried to check if you can find the latest drivers for your Mouse and KB in Logitech site? If not please try to get the updated drivers and check if this issue is fixed for your Win 8 64bit OS.

Check to for the windows Updates too to make sure you have all the Win 8 OS updates.

Regards,

Running the latest 1 and only Logitech Setpoint driver release for Windows 8. Keyboard and mouse have the latest drivers from that. To be fair. I did just install Setpoint the other day. I cant remember if it was the day I installed NIS 2013 or not. I heard NIS 2013 is buggy atm. But, I must say. I don't see how even that would effect my keyboard and mouse boot issue. Could it?

Try plugging your keyboard/mouse into a different USB port.

Check device manager to see if there any devices listed with an exclamation mark or an X.

I have moved my keyboard/mouse to another set of usb ports. 4 in the back and was using the top 2. Now using the bottom 2. I have not seen the problem since. I will continue to monitor this and update if it comes back. I don't get how this might have possibly solved the problem just by moving to different usb ports. Weird.

Can you let us know either way.

FGW

Well done!

It may just have been unplugging and replugging again that forced Windows to find them again .......

Hi FattiesGoneWild,

Good to know that you have no issues as of now and would appriciate if you let us know the status after few days.

I myself faced this type of issue earlier but not when I have installed NIS in my computer but after I have used my computer for few years and USB ports won't work, it may be due to wear and tear of our usage could have made those ports not working.

Hope this will fix and btw NIS is the most stable products available in the market and have a good reputation lately it is taking very less system foot print w.r.t. Memory and the disk space along with the best protection in AV,Malware etc.
