Is there any way to open NAV 2009 without uninstalling/reinstalling? It is a really old PC and would take ages to uninstall etc.It says there is a problem with live update and i should uninstall and reinstall. The PC has not been turned on in a few weeks.
Any help appreciated

Hi david
If your computer meets the minimum requirements to run NAV 2010, you can use your key from NAV 2009 to activate 2010 product. It is possible that you have malware that is blocking your program from running. If you can, you can do a full scan using the free version of Malwarebytes and post the log here.
Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread.
You can find Malwarebytes here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_ant
It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because the malware writers some times block the security programs' websites.

Taking note of the date of your "joining the community" and having problems with the install (your post dated 12/26/08), and noting that it is now 1/12/10 and you said your computer hasn't been on in a few weeks.. Chances are your subscription expired and norton won't update if the subscription expired.
Just a thought.

Hi david
You say there are several security programs on the computer. That could be the problem. If any of those security programs are live time programs running all the time, then they are interfering with your Norton product. If you have Spybot with Tea Timer installed, that willl interfere with Norton's. If you have Ad-aware installed and even use it as an on demand scanner, there is still a part of it that is running all the time and that interferes with Norton also. What firewall are you using with NAV? Some fire walls can interfere also.
