ccSetMgr.exe

I'm trying to figure out how to keep ccSetMgr.exe from running in the background on my computer. I did have some Norton's software on my computer (not sure what software or version other than it did have a virus checker in it) but I uninstalled it long ago. After doing some research I figured out that ccSetMgr.exe is a Norton program.

The reason I need to stop it from running is that it's keeping me from installing a new wireless printer. As my drivers for the printer are trying to install I get an error message that ccSetMgr.exe is keeping me from connecting with the printer and I need to disable it to proceed. I see it running with Windows Task manager but when I try to click on "end process" Windows tells me it cannot complete the action.

After looking through my computer i see there is still a C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder on my computer. ccSetMgr.exe is located here but of course i can't delete it since it's running.

Can anyone tell me how I can delete this so I can install my printer drivers?

Hi tramey,

Are you currently using any Norton Security Product or have you switched to another brand?

If you are not using any Norton Product now, you can use the Norton Removal Tool here to remove any Norton / Symantec entries that may have been left over after uninstalling.

Re: ccSetMgr.exe

Hi tramey,

I'm glad you were able to resolve your problem, but I take it you are not currently using any Norton Products and I'm sorry to hear that.

I think if you installed NIS 2009 even on a trial basis, you would be amazed at how light it is and how little it impacts your system while still providing the best protection available.

Best Wishes.
