ccSvcHst and sysfader errors after installing NIS09

Since installing NIS09, when I shut down the computer it hangs with ccSvcHst and sysfader errors not able to shut down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running XP Professional SP3

Computer recently restored and very clean running.

Hi,

do you have any other security software installed? Like Webroot's AntiSpyware and so on?

Are your experiencing any problems if you work with your PC?

Give us informations so that we can figure out your problem.

How long do you give it to shut down?  Sometimes cvchost takes awhile, but does eventually shut down.  Likewise, at power off, you sometimes get a message about cvchost not being able to access a certain file and if you wait the computer will shut down anyway.

I have spybot installed.

The computer will continue to hang until I click end now. I have left it running all night and it still won't shut down.

Re: ccSvcHst and sysfader errors after installing NIS09

Do you mean spybot Search & Destroy?

I use it, too; but I don't let it work in the background.  I am especially cautious with allowing it to prevent file changes because I once accidentally clicked "do not allow" and this turned out to be a file that finalized an installation.  That was one heck of a mess.  Spybot can freeze up a computer if it happens that the software it is blocking was waiting for something to happen next that Spybot is interfering with.

My suggestion is turn off the automatic aspects of Spybot and see what happens.

Spybot Search and Destroy is past its prime. It also installs a backround agent called Tea Timer. Spybot is not needed since you have NIS 2009. For a good on demand back up scanner try Malware Bytes Anti Malware. I higly recommend uninstalling Spybot Search and Destroy.
Real Time Protection = NIS 2009 + NAT
Behavior Analysis = Threatfire
On Demand = MBAM

Re: ccSvcHst and sysfader errors after installing NIS09

I mostly agree, Diesel.  Occasionally (when I check every three or four months), Spybot S&D will find something Norton doesn't.  But Teatimer can really be dangerous if misunderstood or misued.  I don't use it myself now and don't "allow" my clients to use it.  It the poster has Teatimer turned on, that might be the problem right there.

And I have no problem with your advice about uninstalling Spybot S&D, Diesel.  I hope he listens to you.

Hi kevin1752

Please refer to the first post in this thread, and apply Step 1 to resolve your shutdown issues. You can also apply the other steps as described if you wish.

Let us know how you get on, thanks.

It is always good to have a second opinion but Spybot and especially tea timer can be a real nag when using with another anti virus. I would recommend uninstalling it

Re: ccSvcHst and sysfader errors after installing NIS09

The spybot only runs when I launch it. I custom installed it and Tea timer is not intalled.

I have never had any problems with spybot on any of Symantecs products.

Johna's thread that is linked in his message is very interesting and will make those registry adjustments when I get home tonight.
