dnschanger malware

Hello. I just recently heard on MSN about a malware that will be causing problems for infected users on July 9 called DNSChanger. Is there anyway to figure out whether or not our computer is infected? Thanks!

Re: dnschanger malware

Hi caleb89sw,

Norton has been detecting this threat as Zlob or Tidserv, so it your Norton program has not alerted to the presence of either of these threats, you are not infected.  You can check that your DNS settings have not be compromised by visiting the test page at the DNS Changer Working Group site:

Re: dnschanger malware

You're welcome.  The press is tending to overstate the potential impending doom aspect of DNS Changer.  Most of those who were affected will have long ago been alerted by their ISPs that they need to correct their DNS settings and remove the rootkit infection that is responsible.  Those who fail to act by July 9 may find that they are unable to access the internet.  For everyone else July 9 will be a day like any other.

Re: dnschanger malware

Hello rss245x

The CNET site you posted is only for the USA. People from other countries had different sites to use to check. However, if  they can't connect to the net by now, they will have to contact their ISP to get help to get cleaned up or use another computer to find out how to get their computers cleaned up..

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.
