steelers Hi,
If you really want to give up on the best security program available anywhere, then that is your choice.
However, if you give us fuller information regarding your problem, there are some very clever and knowledgeable people on these boards who would be willing to spend their time trying to help you.
You have only to ask, nicely.

Hello steelers
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Can you please tell us what Norton product you are talking about and what the version number is? What was your previous security product and how was that removed? Did you use the control panel and then the removal tool from the previous company before you tried installing your Norton product? Do you have any other real time security programs installed now? Did you try installing the program on a computer which was already infected? Sorry for all the questions, but some back ground information would be helpful. Thanks.

Today I too received this error message. My computer fail to boot-up properly so, while in SafeMode, I did a System Restore to the prior day. After the System Restore the computer automatically reboots. During this reboot I received an error message: error 3039,69635 and was instructed to uninstall and then re-install my Norton product. I do as instructed and
immediately ran Live Update and Full System Scan - - no issues were found. So WHY did I receive this error message???

Hi! NoviceUser43,
Your issue occurred due to errors on your computer's hard drive. Please go to My Computer (Computer in Vista and Win7) and right click on C: drive then select Properties. On the Properties dialog box click on the tools tab under the heading Error Checking click on Check Now on the resulting dialog box click in each of the little white boxes to place a green check mark in each of them then click on Start. You will be asked if you want to schedule the disk check when the computer next restarts (wording will vary) click on Yes. Then click on Ok to close the Properties dialog box and the close the My Computer (Computer) window and restart the computer and allow the check to complete this will correct any errors found on the hard drive; Fair Warning You May Have To Re-Install NIS after the disk check is completed. The error checking tool may find corruption where NIS is stored hence the possibility of a re-install.

Thank you Tech 83! I followed your directions - - disk has been checked - - did not have to re-install NIS. Appreciate your response and you help. Many thanks. :>)

Hi! NoviceUser43,
You're welcome. :) I am going ask for the same information that Floplot asked for; to access it please click Start>Right Click My Computer (Computer) and select Manage. In the resulting window click the plus sign next to Event Viewer then select Application; look for the entry source Winlogin and click on it twice and select the icon with double paper to copy the contents to the clipboard then open Wordpad. Once in wordpad select Edit>Paste to have the information placed in the WordPad program and save the document as Check Disk Results (please save the document where you normally save your documents so it easy for you to find). Close all of the windows either by clicking close or Ok (or even File>Exit/Close). Login to the Norton Communtiy and post the file to your response using the Add Attachment link just below the Attachments box and click post; this will allow us to review your disk check results. Thanks for your cooperation on this.
Also of note; sometimes just merely running check disk on a computer will take care of problems even when nothing major is wrong.
I am glad to read that you did not have to re-install NIS 2011 some users' have had to; which is not all that fun. ;)

P.S. How often do you run basic computer maintenance? Basic computer maintenance consists of running check disk, disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter (Yes, I do know the Windows Vista and Windows 7 handle disk defragmenting automatically but it never hurts to run it manually once and a while such as after installing updates to your computer).

Steelers Hi,
What a pity that you originated this thread but haven't bothered to consider the replies to your problem.
However, others have, and will, be pleased to understand the solutions.
