Hi Stratoc
Symantec staff have been informed so it should be getting fixed at some time. Thanks for your continued patience.

Okay, it's working again now, although it's still a bit wobbly. Try running "Get Support" 2 or 3 times in succession; or close Norton, open it again and run "Get Support" again; you may be told that the support application is being updated.
Rebooting your computer may fix remaining glitches with One Click Support. Thanks to Vineeth and Yogesh for their help :-D

Hi Stratoc
What you have been told is not correct. If it was working correctly it should, if there are no issues with your installatiom, tell you it did not find any issues with your Norton Product and not just sit there spinning.

yes, i know. it may sound like im being fussy. But it's not actually support i want, it the installation checker part.
Last time i tried norton internet security i went from just using outpost pro firewall. when i ran the checker it said it corrected a firewall issue.
I have again fone from using outpost to norton and wanted to see if it found the same, but the tool doesnt work, so i tried the support chat where they treated me as if i hadnt seen a pc before and told me something that was not correct.
i have found the support tool in the norton program file, it still doesnt get past the update part, can you run the analays device from there? i cannot find it.

update. I thought i would try the norton removal tool then re-install. So I ran it it said I needed to manually remove norton utilities via add remove programs, so i did and re booted, ran the tool again and it said i needed to manaually remove norton utilites.
So i removed the folder and current machine registry entries and re booted. norton removal tool told me i had to manually remove utilites...........
So i re imaged my system to a month ago (pre norton) and it will stay there.
you have been great on here though
Thanks.

Hi Stratoc,
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with NIS 2010 and Norton Utilities during reinstallation. However, I just wanted to post that the issue has been fixed and that One Click Support is working now, in case you change your mind and decide to install Norton again.

Hi Stratoc
There isn't a way, that I know of, to run the check outside of the Norton Program. Watch this space as the issue of this not running is still being pursued by Symantec Support staff so a resoluition to it will come up at some stage.
Sorry to hear in your last posting that you have decided not to stay with your Norton product - can we change your mind??
Hopefully we will see you back in the fourms in the not too distant future
Take care
Mike
