just in case anyone can get help for this i also noticed in norton's recent history log there were loads of medium unauthorised access (access thread data) made to hsplayer.exe from system 32 services.exe.
from what i understand this is/ was the problem.

Yes, I had that, too; this appeared whenever One Click Support was activated.
It is working normally now after an update was released to correct the issue.

been trying since yesterday, says im up to date it updated to 17.07.0.2 that everything since has been deffintions. i tried the tool before it updated to latest patch didnt work then either. i hate things i cant fix! lol.
turning off all the user enabled auto protect doesnt help either.

LiveUpdate is working? Are you receiving the latest virus defintions and PulseUpdates? Is only One Click Support out of order? If yes, what exactly is it doing/not doing? Can you please provide a screenshot?

yeah everything is working. just not the one click support. it just stays spinning and puts the log i mentioned earlier in history log everything else is fine. live update las ran 1 minute ago (succesfully.)

Is it a plain yellow arrow turning round and round, or is it a sort of arrow consisting of bubbles? You may have to try clicking on "Get Support" a few times until it updates itself. You can also try closing NIS, opening it again and then trying "Get Support" again. Also, try rebooting your computer, then opening "Get Support" again - it may take a few tries.
