my computer there is a serious problem so had to reinstall the OS. My NIS 2012 license there are still some months away. so how to uninstall NIS so that later on after re-install the license can be used again?

You can re install NIS with existing key (license) after re installing the OS,
Follow below instructions to remove old product
If you use identity safe, before un-installing the previous product, take a backup of Identity safe data
Remove NIS from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs (if this is not work,follow below steps)
Please download Norton Removal Tool from following link : www.norton.com/nrt and follow the procedure which is mentioned in the link
Install the NIS and Run Live Update until you get no new updates
Restore your Identity Safe data
Please keep your Norton product key handy to activate your product after installation. If you have activation problem after installing the product, contact customer support via CHAT . Customer care link

After you reinstall the Operating system please goto your Norton account to reinstall the Norton Internet Security, it will automatically activates itself as the download is from your Norton account. As the reinstallation is on the same PC you don't have to worry about the extra activation consumption if you are having a 3user NIS.
