I am using windows 7 home premium sp1 with NIS 2012. On idle this program if allowed (meaning if when the notification pops up and I dont aggitate my mouse) causes my computer to freeze(lock up) in which case in order to use the computer I have to turn it off to reboot. Can anyone help me turn this thing off. I tried to turn it off in settings. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Is there a magic genie involved in this process? Please help me with this. Thank you.

Hi gwcaque,
First after going to Settings > General > Idle Tme Out and moveing the slide to OFF you have clicked on Apply before leaving the setting. Right?
You can also try going to Support on the main page of NIS , and clicking on Support on the drop down and let it update and run to see if it fixes anything in your system.
Please also go to Performance on the main page of NIS,then clcik on Norton Tasks (on left hand side). Tell us the status of Insight Optimizer - is it Complete? If not and you have time to let the optimizer run, left click the yellow arrow on the left hand side of the task and let it run until completion.
You can also look in the graph that is diplayed when first selecting Perfomance and see when the Optimizer last run. As an example, mine just finised running on the 22 of this month and you can see it ran three times in June before finally completeing. You can see it ran the 18th, 19th and finally completed the 22. Which agrees with my last time run shown in Norton Tasks. It will continue to restart until it completes.
Please keep us updated.

Hey Yank, thanks for the reply. After reading your suggestions, I clicked run virus update and afterwards, I went into settings and set the idle optimizer to off ( I initially switched it to off but when it kept activating when the computer was idle, I wanted to see if maybe turning it on would stop the computer from crashing. It didnt.) clicked apply, and closed the box and waited to see what happened. 5 min's, 10 min's, 30 min's. No notification from the idle optimizer. I left it idle for an hour, and came back to check it. No idle optimizer interruptions. So it worked. Thank you.
