Some minutes ago NIS downloaded 500KB update, then it successfully installed Norton 2012 Virus Definitions X64 .

2011 no problem, but after upgrading to 2012  seems I got to run liveupdate a few time to get all.

Re: it is happening again, Live update

I am having an issue with NIS2011. Defs update Ok and Pulse, etc but I get an Unsucessfull message ...ie: Process Updates failed to complete. What fails is the update for the Program itself. I wanted to get the update so that FireFox 11.0 would work. I have NIS2012 on my other 2 systems, but my wife wants to keep NIS2011 just a bit longer!

Re: it is happening again, Live update

I've been running NIS 2012 with issues concerning Liveupdate here and there. A few weeks ago, I received an error: 3048,3. I went into Livechat and it was explained to me that the problem was due to Liveupdate's files not updating properly and once it is run again, the problem usually corrects itself by overwriting the corrupted files. So, I went on my merry way when wouldn't you know it...error 3048,3 yesterday afternoon.

But it seems like if other people are having issues with Liveupdate, it's not just me! I was curious if anyone else was having the same problem with an error code?

Hi,

I've had it happen from time to time as well. For me it's usually during times of high Internet traffic. For a short time it was due to server problems on the Norton end. Of late I have not seen it. That said I fully expect the next live update to fail. Got to live with Murphy's Laws.

Hi everyone, as this is an intermittent issue, and the workaround is to run LiveUpdate a subsequent time, you will continue to see times when the updates get completed successfully. You may also continue to see update failures. We are still working on this issue, and I would expect that you may still see the update failures from time to time. I only write this because a few people have written that "it's all working fine" while others write "I'm still seeing the problem." This is to be expected from this issue. I know it's a frustrating and upsetting issue; thank you for keeping us informed on the status as we progress on the fix.

Tony--

Another failure.  Ran LU at 9:05 PM EDT on my Windows 7 64 system with the following results:

Norton 2012 Web Protection Definitions:  Failure

Norton 2012 Smart Virus Definitions X64:  Success

Norton Pulse Update:  Success

Norton Activity Map Data:  Success

Ran again at 9:08 pM EDT:

Norton 2012 Web Protection Definitions:  Success

Norton Pulse Updates:  Success

Note that there was one difference this time.  And that was that BOTH the DOWNLOAD and the PROCESS items showed failure.  In the past, it has always been only the PROCESS UPDATES that showed a failure.  This MAY be because this is the first time I have had a failur since updating from the 2011 to the 2012 version, so it may be simply that the problem is the same, but that the interface is displaying it differently.  However, I thought that knowing about the difference might be helpful to you.

Re: it is happening again, Live update

Seems to me, the best thing Norton can do, is get rid of the Activity Map. It's useless anyway. Does anybody actually use it ?.....

Windows 7 64 Bit Sp1 4GB Ram NIS V 20

I'd rather prevent it, than fix it !

Good point.  I agree.  Trouble is, (unfortuantely), it's not always the Activity Map that fails.  We've been told that this problem is being worked on, and that it's complicated to solve (not sure if that means they know what is wrong and it's hard to fix, or if it means that they don't now what's wrong).  However, if you belive that it IS being worked on, it must, indeed, be complicated, since it has been annoying us since last October.
