I have ordered norton internet security standard for 3 PCs
I have a desktop and laptop and a netbook.
Can someone please clarify if I will be able to download the netbook edition for the netbook and use one of my 3 standard licences? I have seen posts on this forum saying the licences are interchangeable and also that they are not!
If not then I would prefer to run the netbook edition on my desktop and laptop rather than the standard edition on the netbook. Is there anyone I can contact to get the license changed?
Thanks

There are two that you can try if you have just bought NIS 2011 netbook edition (where did you buy it from?)

And here is a link to the website page on refunds.

I haven't bought NAV. I've bought NIS.
What I want is to install the netbook edition of NIS on my netbook and the standard edition on my desktop and laptop. I have bought a retail version of NIS with 3 licenses

My bad. Its more and less the same. And no, I don't think you can get NIS regular with NIS netbook.

Qite a few people use the regular version on their netbook. It doesn't make sense to pay for an entire new subscription for three PC's for the netbook edition. If you do a search under netbook, you will find more information.

Hi spiderwheels,
Welcome to the Norton Community. Just to confirm, the product keys from NIS regular version and Netbook version are not interchangeable. Many requests have been made to Symantec about combining these two but as of now, they are completely independant product keys.
What are the specifications on your Netbook? Depending on that, you might well be able to run the standard version of NIS with no problems. Since you have a 60 day return window, you have a bit of time if you want to try out the regular version of NIS on your Netbook and see if it works OK.
Best wishes.

Its the size of the interface that is bothering me. The netbook is only a 600 vertical display.
I would be better with the netbook edition for all 3 machines.
Yes I have seen a number of complaints now about the standard edition / netbook edition keys problem. You can buy a 3 netbook licence.. but who has 3 netbooks? Most people who have a netbook have at least 1 or 2 other PCs.
Why bother even making a netbook edition? Just make 1 product and configure it in the installer whether to use the small interface / power saving features or not. It's just a bit greedy really.
I'm annoyed now. I think I'll cancel my order and go back to using free stuff. :)

HI spiderwheels,
I understand how you feel. My personal thoughts on the matter are that Symantec will probably end up combining the product keys for the regular and Netbook versions but that is just my opinion and this did not come from Symantec. All I can tell you is that many have requested this and I've seen evidence in my time on the forum that Symantec does listen to customer feedback and the more people request something the more likely it is that they will do it at some point.
As far as combining them into the same program, that is a good idea but only Symantec would know (based on the over all design) if this is techincally feasible. Either this or at least combining the product keys would solve the issue.
Please visit the following thread in the Norton Ideas Forum and add your voice to the support on this suggestion. Symantec needs to hear from more people on this.
Symantec has tagged this suggestion as Community Discussion Required which means they need more feedback from folks like yourself.
In the meantime your idea of using the Netbook edition on your regular computers as well will work.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.

I wholeheartly argree with you. Most people have a netbook as a suplement to a normal pc. Instead of making two versions, why not make the NIS main screen adjustable like all the other windows.

Spiderwheels,
Please stick with Norton Internet Security -- it really is very very good.
As others have posted Symantec have a 60 day warranty of satisfaction and you will have no difficulty in getting your money back from them especially if you go in via the chat channel or use the dedicated link for refunds -- it's available regardless of whether you bought from Symantec or from a retail store etc as you will see from the link for refunds.
NIS 2011 is coming into the stores at this very moment and although I have not seen any good prices for the 2011 Netbook edition you might find a good offer still for the 2010 and you can use the 2010 Key to activate a 2011 version.
Note that if you are already using any Norton Product you are entitled, I understand, to purchase any product, not just the same, from Symantec at the upgrade price and that is $49.99 according to this Norton Upgrade Page
And please take a moment and add your support to the requests for a dual purpose KEY in the Forum for Norton Ideas by using this link:
