msib8e0.tmp?

Right as I was installing todays java update that came out in my firewall I see users/app data/local/temp/msib8e0.tmp targeting norton ccsvchst.exe. Could someone just tell me if this is normal to see when you install updates sometimes? Or did my java update come with malware?

Hi -

What do you mean by "Targeting?" Seems like a .MSI file to me. (Microsoft Installer file.)

You can delete it, if you like. Not Malware.

Hi -

In this particular case, that is correct.

You could always scan it to be 100% sure, if you wish.

Re: msib8e0.tmp?

It has something to do with Java? It says msib8e0.exe targeting norton and it has a medium security ranking. I also have multiple users/appdata/local/temp/jre6-u13-windows-1586-p-iftw.exe is preparing o access the internet. This is all happening around the time of the java update

Hi -

Are you saying that NIS 2009 is detecting this file *after* you did the Java Update?

What is asking for permission to access the internet?

Bit confused here.

Please clarify.

I think that this 'Nate fellow doesn't really understand how the NIS product and applications really work.

Sorry.

Re: msib8e0.tmp?

Hi -

I see.

Looks like a False Positive.

I would mark this as solved - really...

Just to be safe, do a Full System Scan and if clean, don't worry.

Thanks.
