i open the file it says agree AND INSTALL I CLICK ON IT AND NOTHINGS HAPPENS DONT KNOW WHY can someone please help is anybody else having this problem.. i check for viruses disabled firewall please help

Hi,

We apologize for the inconvenience

You said that " Nothing Happens " meaning that the window dissappears or is that the installation stops and gets into a loop

Also you could check if there is any other antivirus installed on the computer.

You need to delete the Norton folders out of C:\ProgramData (if using Vista or Windows 7) or if using XP the folder is located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

You will need to show hidden files to do this, you can find out how to do that here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html

Hi towtow55,

Let us know which operating system you have. If you have any previous versions of Norton program already present in your computer, try to download and run the Norton Removal tool. You can download the removal tool from this LINK. Run the removal tool, restart the computer and then try to install Norton 2010 program.

okay i tried to go into program data to delete the norton folders there is one folder thay wont delete it says norton when i try to delete it says try again and doesnt delete i alkso tried to delete in safe mode nothing happens i am uising vista i tried to install again when i click agree and instal after it comes up nothing else happens after that

when i try to delete the on folder in program data it keeps saying i need permission i keep hitting try again and it doesnt delete

Right, this is what you need to do, follow these instructions carefully.

1. Go to C:\ProgramData
2. Right click on the 'Norton' folder and click properties
3. Click the Security tab
4. Click 'Advanced' near the bottom and the advanced settings window will open
5. Click on the Owner tab
6. Click 'Edit' and a new window will open
7. Where it says 'Change owner to:', select your user account that you are logged in with.
8. Ensure that you tick the checkbox which says 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects' and then click Ok. If any permissions errors come up, just ignore them.
9. Click Ok out of all the open settings windows.
10. Then attempt to delete the Norton folder again, this time it should succeed.

it still doersnt delete it is a folder that just says norton keeps saying you need permission i did all the things but it still is saying try again or cancel but is not deleting what could be wrong...

Have you actually got the folder showing its contents in the right hand pane of windows explorer as this will prevent deletion?
