I use NIS 2010. I upgraded from 2009. Am very happy, just cannot deal with one small thing:
norton antispam outlook plugin
I use othe software for e-mail scanning and i switched NIS off for scanning my e-mail. So far no problem.
Now on the top pane there is the norton antispam outlook plugin, which i can switch off from showing by clicking with my right button on the mouse and unchecking the option.
When i close my outlook 2003 and start it again it's there again. Like my effort was pointless. I know it cannot be that the NIS i trying to convince me that i really need it. :)
Can anyone please help me and guide me in switching this off permanently?
I use Windows 7 ultimate if it might help.

Welcome to Norton Community!
If you do not want the AntiSpam to scan your emails, please turn off AntiSpam from the NIS settings or uncheck Outlook from the list of email clients under AntiSpam settings. However, I would suggest you to keep the email scanning turned ON. Email scanning provides an added layer of security to the computer by scanning each attachment you download via Outlook/Outlook Express. Email scanning won't have any seperate plug-in for Outlook, and so it won't conflict with the other security software which you use.

That was not the answer i expected. I did all you indicated and even wrote i did in my post.
I wanted to remove the plugin permanently from showing and coming back each time i restart outlook.
In Microsoft Outlook go to:
Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > COM Add-ins
The remove the norton antispam outlook plugin and restart outlook and gone it is.
Found it on the net.
I am very happy with NIS, just not using the Outlook part of it. :)

You'll still want to disable the Norton AntiSpam option inside the Norton Internet Security interface, or your email will continue to be scanned at the port level.
To do this, launch Norton Internet Security, click on Settings, then click Network Settings, and under Email Protection, turn the AntiSpam option to the Off position and click OK.
You'll want to keep the Email AntiVirus Scan setting to On, as this will protect you from threats being sent over email (completely separate from AntiSpam).
Let me know if this helps!
