After a system restore Norton will not launch and all I get is this error. Any help?

Hi rajah,

 

Restoring your system can sometimes 'break' NIS.  You may need to uninstall/reinstall.

 

First,  please backup your ID safe data.

 

You can upgrade from NIS11 to NIS12 for free while you have a current subscription.  If you would like to upgrade to NIS12,  the simplest option would be to run the Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool.  This will uninstall all Norton products and reinstall a fresh copy of NIS12.

 

If you prefer to keep NIS11,  then you may need to uninstall from Control Panel and reboot,  then run the Norton Removal Tool and reboot again.  You can download a fresh copy from http://www.norton.com/nis11.  This will be a trial that will need to be activated with your Product Key,  so please track this down first.

 

Remember to run Live Update,  rebooting where required,  until no more updates are available.

Thanks for the quick reply. not sure how to back up safe data, cant bring up anything from the program, plus this is a new laptop and i had about a month left of NIS before i was going to purchase so not sure if i have a product key

There is probably another way to backup your data,  but while your browser is open,  if you click on the ID safe,  you should have an option to back it up.

 

I am fairly sure the Remove & Reinstall Tool should install an already activated copy.  Do you have a Norton Account?  If so,  you can download an already activated copy there.
