Hi,
Running NAV 2009 - all seems fine - updates frequent
However, normally after a full update I have one set of definitions in the VirDefs folder called something like 20081030.003
Occasionally there is still an old set sat in the folder, when this happens I see a reference to APP_ID_AVORPHAN in usage.dat
Here is the conents of that file
[20081028.024]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_1=1
[20081030.003]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_0=1
APP_ID_SCANNERW=1
SRTSP=1
AVDEFMGR=1
Where 20081028.024 is the old def folder still in the virusdefs folder
Anyone able to explain what is happening ?
Thank You

I now have 3 sets od definitions
usage.date reads
[20081028.024]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_1=1
[20081030.003]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_0=1
[20081030.049]
APP_ID_SCANNERW=1
SRTSP=1
AVDEFMGR=1
Could someone else post their usage.dat to see if it's the same or a problem with this PC ?
Thanks

Hi Alphanet,
If you reboot do these definitions get removed?
Thanks,
Wes

Hi wesleyj,
Reboot doesn't remove them. This is a laptop so gets turned off most nights.
[20081028.024]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_1=1
[20081030.003]
APP_ID_AVORPHAN_0=1
[20081102.004]
APP_ID_SCANNERW=1
SRTSP=1
AVDEFMGR=1

Thanks Alphanet. Generally when this happens the extra definition sets will be removed after a reboot. We have identified that there is a problem where they can be left behind and will be issuing a fix in a future release. The extra definition sets won't cause any functional problems with the product. If you do need the extra disk space right now you can disable tamper protection and manually remove the [20081028.024] and [20081030.003] definition sets.

Thanks for the reply wesleyj,
Will the fix be issued via automatic live update or will there be a need for a manual upgrade ?
Thank you

Hello Alphanet,
The fix will be applied via an automatic live update, you will not need to manually upgrade the product.
Thank You,
Wes
