Accepted Solution

possible virus

Hi, everyone,

I have been getting continual uninvited requests to chat on my yahoo email account, and I just read that this could be some kind of virus. I have been trying to make it stop and researching how I might do this, but I can't find any way to stop it. Could this be a virus?

Thank you,

TF

Re: possible virus

I finally solved this myself. I just needed to upgrade to the newest yahoo account. Then I was able to do some of the things people were suggesting, like simply signing out of Messenger but not Yahoo, which hadn't been possible with the old version.

Same thing here. I've had a Yahoo account for years which I never used the email part of it. That being said, anytime when going into the old email version, I would get those crazy little pop ups from messenger saying that Suzie Q or whatever beautiful girl wanted to chat :smileylol:

Now with the new updated email within' Yahoo, as you stated, the user can finally switch off the messenger and the facebook settings. I don't use either, but that's just me :smileyvery-happy:
