Hi timboyboy,
The Norton program does not interact with any web-based email program. Any spam being sent is entirely occurring on the cloud and not under the control of Norton Internet Security or Norton Antivirus.
Perhaps the web mail's privacy policy can shed some light on how spam is being received so quickly to an email address you just created.
I wish you well!

Hello timboyboy
As has been mentioned, Norton doesn't control or collect spam in web based programs. I have Googled and found this site that does give some useful hints on how to help stop the spam.
More help can probably be found by contacting the Hotmail. com help website.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Hi,
Just like the two previous suggestions, Webmails are not scanned for Spam by Norton.
If you had configured your hotmail with Outlook or Thunderbird, then you will be using the secure ports for POP3 and SMTP which are not supported by most Antivirus programs!!
The best way here is to follow the link from the previous suggestion. Try to change your password once in a while.

Hello timboyboy
When you go and visit some websites, little cookies are made in your computer. These cookies are made by websites and often they may sell the list of cookies. Try and think of it with address labels. I once ordered address labels with my home address on them. Some how, I think every organization in the USA has sent me address labels without me requesting them. Some of them look so pretty, I hate to just throw them out., but there is no way that they will all get used.
I guess something similar can happen with email addresses also.

The two most likely explanations are:
1. Your address is common enough that it would be included in a list of likely addresses, i.e "tim539@xxx.net."
2. One of your contacts who has your new address in their address book has had their account compromised.
