I'm afraid I don't know a lot about viruses/spyware so I can't say for sure what is causing my problems. Here what I do know:
I have an infection that uses svchost.exe. This only happens when an internet connection is available.
My browser gets hijacked, usually taking me to shopping websites.
Running diagnostics in Norton 360 causes my computer to crash
tidserv has been found on my computer.
I've tried to download fixtdss.exe but when I launch it my computer crashes during startup.
Thanks for any advice,

If that doesn't work, I would suggest that you go to one of the free malware removal sites before you start using too many programs which might make the situation worse. Please register at one of the removal sites and they will give you the proper scans to run and help you to clean up your computer on a 1 to 1 basis.
Please go to one of these free Forums for help in removing your bad malware or rootkits.
