Re: trojan.brisv.A!inf

As has been stated in my previous posts:

1. - restart your computer and press F8 after it beeps before the windows logo pops up

2. - select safe mode

3. - run the removal program(right click and run as admin if using vista)

4. - it should say the trojan was removed when program is finished

5. - locate the file and delete it completely from your system and recycling bin

6. - restart again normally and run full sweep just to make sure everything is gone

WaaaaaaLaaaaa! Good luck!

Re: trojan.brisv.A!inf

Questions:

I did start the computer in safe mode.

I ran the removal program.  (Although I didn't right click and run as admin...I do use Vista).  I just hit start and the program started.

When the program completed, it said NO INFECTION WAS FOUND.  So, therefore, no trojan to remove.

If I try this again, and if it actually finds the trojan...HOW DO I LOCATE THE FILE in order to delete it from my system completely?

Cindy :)

Thanks for trying to help me!  I'm pretty frustrated right now.  I will probably have to approach this tomorrow when I am not so frustrated!

Re: trojan.brisv.A!inf

The program you used that told you that you had the virus should show where it's located. It's probably a MP3 file.

If I remember correctly I think the removal program also tells you what folder. Then you would go to the location and delete the file.

Then follow the remaining steps. Be SURE to empty the recycle bin before closing safe mode.

Thanks again for your help.  I just can't face doing anything else this evening.  I'm going to bed soon, but, will work on this again tomorrow afternoon, when I am not so frustrated!  Hopefully, I will have more success tomorrow! I will write back with my results tomorrow!

Re: trojan.brisv.A!inf

Angel has some good advise.  It took me days to get rid of this virus.  Just make sure you get rid of all the limewire garbage.  Delete it all, and delete from recycle bin.  If you lose any music, who cares.  It's cheaper than all the time we have spent fixing the problem.

Re: trojan.brisv.A!inf

Well...for strange.  I was just about to log off...then, decided to empty out my recycle bin.  I did.  Then...I ran the quick scan...NOW...it shows that there are no problems.  And, it shows that all problems are resolved.  Could it be that easy?  doubtful.  Well, I'll run a full scan tomorrow afternoon, and double-check.  Wow.  I wish it would just BE GONE!
