Hello,
I also have the same virus "trojan.patchep!sys". The virus scanner is telling me that manual removal is required and am not sure where to start.
Laptop: Pavilion dm4 Notebook - Windows7 64 bit
Thank you in advance.

ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures, The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.
Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
1. Find
2. Break
3. Destroy
4. Cleanup (including system as a whole)
Please read every post completely before doing anything.

Quads,
Before I proceed with your repairs, I also forgot to mention that when I turned my pc on this morning it started in some type of a safe mode and a windows scanner started running which stated making repairs... Once it was done I rebooted the comptuer and it turned on. Do you know what this scan is or what it is for? I assume it has something to do with the virus.
I appreciate your help through this.

Hi Quads,
I have one more question before I proceed with your directions. Can I perform a system restore to get rid of this virus. I created a restore point about 2 months ago. I only ask because it would be easier to perform and reduce my chances of making any mistakes.
Thanks,
Matt

NO,
As I know and just yesterday a user found out Using System restore can cause a loop, or a BSOD.
I infect my system with Malware including Zeroaccess, so myself and other Malware removalists knows what works etc.
