Re: virus or an ad?

I agree with Phil_D.

You should be just fine, TC2009. And remember to always keep your programs and OS up-to-date, and surf carefully :-)

Re: virus or an ad?

Update- Turns out I'm not crazy/paranoid. well not crazy at least

The site where I seemed to be having this problem of getting the phoney virus scan suggestion, has turned out to have had a major problem. They had been "attacked" in a denial of service atttack (?)

now I don't know for sure if the phoney virus scan request was part of that, but as I said I had only gotten this at that site (www.sportingnews.com) and only about 2-3 weeks. Well in the last 5 days or so one of the servers for the site was compeletly rendered useless at one point

so coul the phony virus scan request and the subsequent attack on the site likely be related?

Re: virus or an ad?

Just based on the wealth of knowledge that you all have and that perhaps what appears to be "strange" to me, may be things you all have seen played out before. like what accompanies denial of service attacks to a website/server

there are things in my business that, while some of the circumstances may differ, the basic tenents are the same
