My tray is showing red X , I click on it and it says fix now. I click on fix now and it tries to update.

It checks for updates, downloads updates but cannot process updates. 

Why is it so out of date with updates it's a 2011 issure.

I let it run all night then it tells me update not sucessful.  I have done this twice.  What please is the problem.

There can be several reasons for this problem:

1.  If your prior product was not properly removed, it can affect how Norton behaves.  It may require a cleanup and a clean installation.

2.  If you have any other security software on board, it can interfere.  Some products will need to be removed to allow Norton to work properly.

3.  If you have Norton Antivirus, it has no firewall.  You may need to allow NAV through the firewall that you do have on the machine.  Some third party firewalls are not compatible with Norton products.

4.  If there is a chance that the machine is infected, malware can also interfere with an antivirus product in several ways.

Give us a bit more information and we will try to get it sorted out.

Is your system date / time correct?  Please check as this can interrupt the update process.

Uninstalled and made sure all folders,etc were gone Re-installed and ran scan the quick and full system scan It resolved it's self, now I have a green check on the tray. Thank you
