How do you get new information for the malware scanner in the Android app?

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

I gather your question is about Norton Mobile Security and the Anti-Malware

feature.

New information being  Anti-Malware application definitions are updated by

the NMS applications LiveUpdate. Which runs in the background at scheduled

times being daily, weekly or monthly. Or the user can run a manual LiveUpdate.

LiveUpdate can be found in the Menu options for the NMS application.

And to see the history of Anti-Malware definition updates the user can

select Menu then Activity Log to see when the updates took place and

also the version numbers of the updates to the Anti-Malware feature.

It's all about samples.  We grab sample submissions of APK's for analysis.  We work on enhancing this process to ensure that we are ble to react quickly.
