I have an Android 2.3.4 phone.
I do not have a data plan on my phone.
I have wireless high speed internet at home.
I would connect to Wifi on my Android phone using my high speed internet at home. From there, I would surf the net and download apps, including the Norton Mobile Security.
When I out of my house, I will have no access to the internet because I do not have a data plan.
My question is will Norton Mobile Security work without internet access while I'm out of the house?
Ps. This is the Norton Mobile Security (LITE) I'm talking about:

Hi tunguska,
As Norton Mobile Security Lite is free, you only need to pay if you want the additional features, why not try it and see?
I am fairly confident that you will find it does work as this is pretty much how I use my phone (with Android 2.2) and it works on that.
Good luck.

If the question is whether or not the app will function while you don't have a connection, absolutely. That said LiveUpdate will not be able to connect and web protection (which is in the premium version) will be moot when you lack a connection, but you will still be able to use any of the other features including antitheft and malware scanning.

The only features that will not work when using WIFI are Anti-Theft and Call & SMS Blocking (Premium Version only) as the phone does not have the ability to send and receive SMS messages. All other features, including Web Protection (Premium Version only), LiveUpdate and Malware scanning will work with any network connection, including WIFI.
As Erik said, while having no network connection, LiveUpdate and Web Protection (Premium Version only) will not work, as well as the same features that did not work on WIFI: Anti-Theft and Call & SMS Blocking (Premium Version only) since the phone does not have the ability to send and receive SMS messages.

Hope this information helps.

Erik and Jon: Thank you for your answers and yes, that answer the question.
The main thing I wanted to know is if app will function while I don't have a connection and good to know it will.
I see Norton Mobile Security useful in 2 situation for those who don't have a data plan:
1) Protection when I'm connected to wifi at home/office where I would surf the web, download apps etc. Also, during this time when I'm online, the LiveUpdate can function.
2) Protection when I'm using the apps that I've previously downloaded. I would be running the downloaded apps without a connection and Norton Mobile Security can still function in malware scanning/protection.
Again, thanks for the answers.

Hi Jon,
Hope you don't mind if I query your reply but as I normally use my phone without data enabled (just using WiFi at home and hotspots) I have a direct interest. So my phone works all the time but I just connect to data via effectively free WiFi.

But if the phone is working, just does not have mobile data enabled why does the Anti-Theft and SMS blocking not work as surely these rely on normal phone features not mobile data? Or am I being obtuse?
