After constantly being prompted every day to upgrade to NMS 3, I have proceeded to download from the play store and install.
When I open NMS 3 I get the following error message:
Data transfer error
Data transfer error while migrating data from the previous version of Norton Mobile Security.
Please Try Again
Retry Quit
I have tried over and over always with the same result.
The device I am currently working on is a SAmsung Galaxy
NMS 2.5.0.420 and Antitheft plugin 1.5.0.264
Any ideas????

Hi rhellier
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum. ![]()
As this appears to me a issue i have not seen yet, and you have
tried multiple times to do the updates and upgrade and it still does
not work it might pay to contact Norton Support Live Chat for free
via the web and explain your issue-
Click on the link above and follow the steps and fill in the required
info and select Chat Now if needed.
If it was a Google Play Store upgrade for the full paid version of NMS
then you will need the Gmail Google Play order receipt details, and if
it was a retail pack then you will need the activation key from the package,
and if it was a Norton Online Store purchase then you will need the
Order Number from the confirmation email for the Online Store purchase.
Having the purchase details for NMS will really help the Norton Support
staff to assist you with this issue. ;-)
Could you keep us posted on how you go with this issue as that will really
help any other users who happen to have the same issue.Thanks.![]()
Cheers. ![]()

After spending 1.5 hours with livesupport the problem is solved. In case anyone else has this problem the process is:
First, remove the product from the mobile device (all versions of nms and the anti theft plug in)
Then open this website www.norton.com/nms in your browser
Download and install the file (NortonMobileSecurity-102.apk)
Now click on menu and run live update
Click on Menu and select about and check the version of Norton (V2.5.0.420)
Now restart the mobile device
Now open Norton Mobile Security and select set up anti theft
Download and install Norton Anti theft plugin
Now run live update in Norton Mobile Security
Wait for few minutes until you receive the option to update to the latest version
Click on the message, follow the directions to install NMSv3 from Goggle Play Store
Click Install and agree to any changes
When NMSv3 starts click on Agree & Launch
you will see a messagage about data being transferred and then asked to uninstall the previous version.
Click on Uninstall, then follow through all of the prompts to remove the previous version
You will be returned to the first screen and need to click on Agree & Launch button
Now you will see the title page, swipe across the screen to register
You need to enter email and password details for your Norton account or create a Norton Account to register the device.
You will be asked to name the device, this must be a unique name.
Finally you will see the main screen with your subscription expiry date
Yes a pretty complex upgrade process.
