I just got rid of 2 apps...that I'm thinking about redownloading if this add on functionality cannot be added...

I had one blacklist app that would pickup, then hang up on the caller (so I wouldnt get any voicemail from blocked users) and also another SMS app that instead of deleting a SMS message, I could set it to autosend a custom response back to the sender.

is there ANY way to add these features into the norton mobile security suite????

Just FYI, the call drop feature is the more needed feature.  I haven't used the custom SMS response app in quite a while.  But the call pickup and drop feature is used ALL THE TIME!!!  being on the buisness end of things, salespeople are suposed to call our purchasing department, companies constantly end up calling me since im the IT support for an entire company.  and now...they can leave messages...that I constantly have to call my voicemail, waste time listening to them to see if it's a valid voicemail and then end up deleting anyway... *sigh*

Hi awiegeman.

I don't think Norton Mobile Security (NMS) can help at the moment but may I just clarify what you are trying to achieve in case it looks like an idea that Norton may wish to include later.

At present you can block incoming calls from selected numbers with NMS.  However despite of, or because of, it being blocked the call goes through to your voicemail.  To stop this you would like NMS to accept the call (automatically) but then drop it again as soon as it has taken it.

On the SMS side.  At present you can get NMS to ensure that SMS messages from selected numbers do not appear.  However what you would like NMS to do is, still not show the SMS messages but also to send a customised SMS response to the sender.  Would you want a customised response for different senders or would just one do?

Let us know if I have understood you correctly, or not.

They appear to be interesting ideas but I have no idea how they would fit into Norton's development plans.

On the other hand someone may be able to advise you of a way to achieve some of this with existing functionality as the voicemail issue had not occurred to me.  Fortunately I have not found it necessary to set up any block so far and so have not experienced this.

I gather from what you said in your first post that you have already found two separate apps, that will do this at the moment.

Yes, you are correct on both accounts. And yes, a custom message to each blocked sms recipient would be useful, but not nessicarilly needed as when I did use that sms feature I made it look like an automated message from at&t saying "This mobile number is no longer accepting sms messages".

And yes, I have used two seperate apps for these features before. One was call blocker (if I remember correctly) and as for the sms app, well, as I said I haven't needed that app in a while (only reason I used that was to keep an ex from texting me) sooo, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the app.

Would be greatly appreciated to know if any or all of these features are possible and or likely in any future releases.

I do not know but I would have thought that both sets of features are possible (most things are possible with enough time and patience) but I have no idea what priority Norton would put on this or how long it would take them.  They are most unlikely to give advance notice of such features coming up so I think you will just have to wait and hope.  That said I think you have put a clear case and they should now understand what you want so you have done your best.

This is something that we'll take a look at in the future, but I cannot promise if or when this will be added to NMS.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I would certainly support the call blocking change Erik.

Having now tested it, it does seem odd that blocked calls are just put through to the voicemail which in many ways can make them even more irritating.

However I accept that it is just something else to be added to the teams lists.
