How to activate NMS "scream" from the Norton Anti-Theft Website?

Today I setup NMS on my Android phone and see it listed on the Anti-Theft Website when I login using my Norton Account.  I can find the location of the phone and take a sneak peak photo.

However, I don't see an option on the Website to initiate the "scream" function on the phone.  Is that available via the site along with the locate and sneak peak, or is scream only available via text message?

Thanks.

Re: How to activate NMS "scream" from the Norton Anti-Theft Website?

Hi sgehlen

i am not sure if you already have the Norton app Anti-Theft Plugin installed  or not ?? this app is required to take the snap shots and is available here-

 https://market.android.com/details?id=com.symantec.anti.theft&feature=more_from_developer

As for the scream feature i beleive that is a part of the Norton Mobile Security Full Version app and is accessed thru your Norton Account and i am not to sure how to use it maybe another Norton Community Member will be able to assist you more or one of the great Symantec Employees.

Hope that helped.

Cheers

Hi sgehlen,

I don't think that you can activate "scream" from the website.

You can activate it from a mobile phone if you have the upgraded version of "Lite" on your phone.  Then you just send the text message to your phone:-

scream PASSWORD

where "PASSWORD" is the password you set up when you activate Anti-Theft on your phone.

I hope that helped.

Re: How to activate NMS "scream" from the Norton Anti-Theft Website?

Thanks everyone who replied.  I realized after reading the reply that I should've added more detail about my configuration:

* I have the full (paid) version of Norton Mobile Security on my Android phone

* I have installed the Norton Anti-Theft Add-on

I believe somewhere in the Norton materials it says that the "scream" function can be activated from the Norton Anti-Theft web site (after of course logging in with my Norton Account ID and password).  Again, when I login to the Norton Anti-Theft site I can get the phone's location and take the sneak peak photo, so everything is operating fine, I just don't see where to activate "scream" from that same website.  This would be a great feature to add to the site if it is just not available.

Thanks.

Hi sgehlen,

You said "I believe somewhere in the Norton materials it says that the "scream" function can be activated from the Norton Anti-Theft web site ".......

If you could point out exactly where it says that it should help either track down this previously unnoticed functionality or enable Norton to remove the misleading statement.

However with the full version of NMS you should definitely be able to get it to scream by sending a text message from another phone.

I know that the NAT team will be working on making the features comparable to the SMS antitheft in NMS.  I'd recommend checking the NAT board for further details (http://norton.com/nat_support).

Apparently the forum wanted to add the parenthesis to the URL.  The correct URL is http://norton.com/nat_support

I just don't see where to activate "scream" from that same website.

The Norton Mobile Security feature of Scream cannot be activated from

the Norton Anti-Theft Website.

The NMS Scream feature can only be activated by a SMS  command

from a mobile phone.

And a SMS command sent from a computer will not work either it has to

be a pure SMS from a mobile phone.

I must note as well to get the Scream feature of NMS you have to upgrade

to the paid Full Version of Norton Mobile Security to gain the extra

features that the full version provides.:smileyhappy:

For more info on how to use the command  features of Norton Mobile

Security i would highly  reccomend that you have a look at info supplied

at the Norton Mobile Knowledge Base Forum just click here .

The Norton Anti-Theft Website is only used if you already have a valid licence of

NMS on your device and also have installed the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin which

is available from the Android Market.

The NAT app is a addon for NMS to add the web capabilities of Locking the

Device from a computer and sending a message to be displayed on the

screen, and also to be able to track and locate the device via a map or take

a Sneak Peek photo from the forward facing camera on the device.

They are the great features of the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin and what it can do

for NMS and for you as the owner of the Android Device.

And for more info and help with NAT click on the 2 links provided here-

Norton Mobile Products Support

Norton Mobile Knowledge Base Forum

And to find the Norton Anti-Theft plugin app for NMS just click on the link

provided below-

Norton Anti-Theft Plugin Android Market

I hope that info helps to clarify your question about the NMS Scream Feature.:)
