I can download the application file to my phone (Samsung Captivate) but get stuck at installation. I get the message "Install blocked: For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from Android Market". Then I open settings, and then applications - but I do not find the "Unknown sources: Allow install of non-market applications" option at that point. Where else can I look for this option?

Are you on AT&T? This is a setting that carriers can choose to restrict. The main carrier to do this was AT&T though they started to change this last spring. If you don't see that option I recommend you check for phone updates and apply any offered. If that doesn't work I'd contact your carrier.
