Norton Anti-Theft is expired after update to Norton Mobile Security.

I have just upgraded via the Google Play store my Norton Mobile Security (NMS) and I had installed Norton Anti-Theft (NAT) in the past and now, NAT is saying that the Norton Security license expired.  I also see the all the NAT features within NMS.

Have the two programs merged into a single one and if so, should I just un-install NAT and live with NMS without loss of security or features?

Thanks for any help provided.

Re: Norton Anti-Theft is expired after update to Norton Mobile Security.

Hi ADumontet

I now find the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin is not required if you have the new paid full version

of Norton Mobile Security 3.0 from the Google Play Store as all the features of Norton

Anti-Theft are now included in the Norton Mobile Security website control panel.

Which is a great idea. ;-)

One less app for the device and less confusion. The features all work well when tested with

Scream now being added to the Web Control Panel which is something a lot of users wanted

as part of Norton's Mobile Security app. Kudos Norton Team. :smileywink:

The Sneak Peek works fine and Remote Lock works fine too took a little while to activate.

Locate is ok would probably be better outside with GPS activated but i have only tested it with

the wireless network and WiFi.

So i would think it is ok to  uninstall Norton Anti-Theft and just use Norton Mobile Security

and all the great features that it's Web Control Panel now give the users access to. :-)

Cheers. :smileywink:

Cool, thanks for the quick reply.  I'll un-install NAT right away.

But Symantec should have put a note somewhere to let us know (just my two cents!).

Re: Norton Anti-Theft is expired after update to Norton Mobile Security.

I have the same problem on my AT&T Galaxy S II, but NAT won't uninstall the usual way (Applications, press and hold, drag to the trash).  There is no uninstall option on the pop-up menu.  Attempts to log on to my Norton account are met with a message "Unknown error" but the "Register your device" window comes next anyway.  I once pressed the OK button and, yes, the device does now appear on my Norton account.  I still get a "Web Anti-Theft Status" window with the message "Norton Security License Expired" in red when I open NAT app.

After reading the posts here carefully and thinking through my problem, I noticed that the MNS app icon was missing (I was running NAT only)  I drug the NAT icon to the trash off one of my desktop screens first, then ran MNS from the Applications matrix of installed apps.  I did succeed in logging in, and now it seems that all my problems are solved.  NAT is still there and won't install; I assume that it's just a plug-in and I can ignore it now.

Unless NAT is supposed to uninstall, I believe that I found my solution in this thread.  If not, please reply with advice on uninstalling NAT.

Re: Norton Anti-Theft is expired after update to Norton Mobile Security.

Hi motofingers

If you are running the newest version of Norton Mobile Security 3.0

from Google Play then the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin is not required

as you have gathered from previous posts in this thread. :smileyhappy:

You could ignore or just safely uninstall it using the device settings to

free up some more memory on your S2, one less app needed ;-)

Gingerbread- Menu > Settings > Applications > Mangae Applications

> NAT > Uninstall.

Ice Cream Sandwich- Menu > Settings > Applications > NAT > Uninstall

Hopefully that info helps. :smileyhappy:

Cheers. :smileywink:

Yes, I have NMS 3.0.0.683, and, yes, the Ice Cream Sandwich solutions worked for me to uninstall NAT.  Between the previous posts and the help with Ice Cream Sandwich by the Mobile Master, I am now happy as a clam at high tide. :smileyhappy:

Re: Norton Anti-Theft is expired after update to Norton Mobile Security.

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab2,  When I tried to uninstall the NAT per your thread, the uninstall button is grayed out. I was advised that I have to "Deactivate" first.  Click the "Deactivation" button brings up the message box "This app is a device administrator and must be deactivated before uninstalling".  Click "OK" to acknowledge, However, the ""Uninstall" button remain grayed out. How do you perform the NAT deactivate, since the NAT plug-in is part of the new mobile security and is no longer required? Thanks

Hi Kohj

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.:smileyhappy:

First you could try rebooting or restarting your device, then open the

Settings then Applications if you are using ICS or Manage Applications

with GB and see if you can now Uninstall the NAT Plugin.

And again also check to make sure NAT Plugin is disabled in the Device

Administrator settings.

Otherwise if that does not work you could try uninstalling Norton Mobile

Security 3.0 then try to uninstall the NAT Plugin. Then reinstall NMS 3.0.

Let us know how you go.:smileyhappy:

Cheers. :smileywink:

By default, Norton Anti-Theft enables the Device Administrator settings for enhanced security. To uninstall Norton Anti-Theft, the Device Administrator for Norton Anti-Theft must be disabled first. For more inforomation, read:
