Norton Tablet Security

I have just installed Norton Tablet Security on my Nexus 7 and I have
noted that after it
Updated itself it called itself Norton Mobile Security.

Interesting but what I am really concerned about is that it says it browser
Protection is only compatible with the standard 'Android Browser'
I wish it had said that on the box before I bought it.

Re: Norton Tablet Security

Hi,

Yes it is now called Norton Mobile Security only with the tablet-specific user interface included.

We are working on additional browser support. When we have this, like any other feature in the paid product, existing customers will be eligible to get this for free.

Thanks

Re: Norton Tablet Security

Then information regarding the Android browser restriction should have been shown on the system requirements on the box a point of purchase.

I understand your frustration with this and it is completely justified.

Please understand that the boxes and packaging are often designed and ordered months before in order to be ready for  inclusion in a purchase. The Nexus 7 was announced in very late June 2012 and there was little time to adjust packaging much less test and verify support for the Chrome browser.

The Nexus 7 is the first device to incorporate Google Chrome as the standard web browser; all other iterations of the Android OS have used an unnamed stock browser (Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_7#Software).

We recognize that the Chrome browser is crucial to support and we are working towards this in the near future.
