Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Not a problem for me I am glad to say but delighted to see that Norton are already on the case.

I hope for _taz_ and others like him that is will not be too long before the solution appears.

Possible Fix in need of checking.  I have a test build that needs some testing to see if we've identified the culprit.  Please send me a private message with your email address, device info (version of Android as well) and that you are seeing the battery drain issue.  I'll send you an APK to test with.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hello, i am having the same issue with my Sony Xperia P phone, Android 2.3.7. After installing Norton Mobile Security, my battery usage has suddenly increased, the phone would not last even one day.

Normally there is almost no batterry drain overnight, but after the installation, i lost like 30% batterry overnight, without me even touchung the phone.

I tried several things, but today i uninstalled Norton Mobile Security, restarted the phone and batterry is back to normal, i still have about 70% left after 16 hours.

So this problem is not just on Samsunf Transform :)

Hello zerogreat.

Welcome to the Community.

Sorry to hear of your problems.   Can you give us a bit more information?

What version of NMS did you have loaded and did you have the Norton Anti-Theft plugin loaded with it?  There has just been an update to the NAT plugin to address the issue of battery usage and I wonder if your problem may have been related to that.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy SII and have experienced the same battery drain issue. I am using Norton 360 Everywhere. Initially I installed both Norton Security and the Anti Theft option. I have since done a phone reset and only re-installed Norton Security. My battery drained to 0% in 15 hours with very minimal use, 3 short calls and about 30 mins of screen time.

I have also installed this on a Samsung Galaxy TAB 7" and a HTC Explorer, neither of which experienced the same excessive battery usage.

What happened to the fix that was mentioned earlier in the forum?

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hello mikeby.

Welcome to The Community.

Sorry to hear about the battery problem you have had.

Not being a Norton staffer I haven't the faintest idea about what is happening on the software.

Can you confirm that this has happened on more than one occasion?  If so have you checked to see what the phone thinks is using the power?  It may not be NMS.  I discovered that a once benign app suddenly became a battery guzzler after an upgrade and now I know to force close it.  It may therefore be worth checking to confirm (or deny) whether the battery drain is down to NMS.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi Andmike,

I am fairly certain it is NWS but do not understand why. According to the Battery Usage NWS is very low. However, after doing the phone reset and not installing NWS I was back to getting 2 days usage. I then re-installed NWS and the battery drained after 15 hours. Very strange behaviour.

Hi mikeby

You could try installing and running the Norton Mobile Utilities application

to get detailed info for the installed applications  Battery, CPU and Memory

usage for your Android device.

This is if you are not using NMU already.. :smileyhappy:

The link for Norton Mobile Utilities in the Google Play store is here.

Cheers. :smileywink:

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi smithy,

I did have NMU installed but I don't see how it helps, the battery indicator simply shows the current % avail and temperature, it does not show, at least as far as I can see, what apps are consuming battery. The system provided Battery Usage does but for NMS it was showing around 2% so there is something wrong with how this data is being represented.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi mikeby

The NMU app will give detailed info if you follow the steps below-

Open the NMU app and select Device then tap the Battery display bars for

detailed System and App Battery Usage.

Tap the CPU graph for detailed System and App CPU Usage.

Tap the Memory graph for detailed System and App Memory Usage.

Cheers.:smileywink:
