Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi smithy,

Thanks for the info regarding NMU.

I uninstalled NMS last night after my battery reached 0% in a little over 15 hours. Today my battery is at 89% after 5 hours a much better result than yesterday. I'm pretty much convinced that NMS is the culprit.

Earlier in the thread (sometime in June) there was mention that a potential fix had been found but required further testing. Has this progressed any further?

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

It depends on what the issue is you're seeing.  With NMU installed, if you tap on the Battery meter on the Usage page you'll see a breakdown Apps and what percentage of the battery used they represent.  We need to clarify if this is NMS, NAT, or something else.  There was an update that was released that addressed a majority of root causes.  There were some people that still experienced issues, that will be addressed in the next update.  We just need to know where the drain is coming from to determine what is happening in your situation.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi Erik,

Here is a status update but not one that is going to help unfortunately.

After 15.5 hours of operation with my battery at 69% without NMS, I reinstalled NMS. Now I have reached 24.5 hours and my battery is at 52%. There is no evidence of a battery drain this time around.

I have not re-installed NAT, nor had for the last 2 re-installs of NMS.

Something very weird is going on here as the only change over the last week is the removal and re-install of NMS. With all previous installs of NMS I had battery drain issues. BTW, the version I have is 2.8.0.562. This was downloaded as part of Norton 360 Everywhere and not via Google Play. How will I be notified of any updates?

I will monitor further and update here if the problem re-appears.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

There may have been other activities going on in the background that you didn't see.  It's definitely possible.  As to updates, you'll see a prompt once an update is available for that particular version.  Glad to hear you aren't seeing the drain anymore.

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hi,

I seem to be having the same problem with battery drain after installing NMS & Anti-Theft. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, and have gone from charging it every 2 or 3 days to now twice daily. Other than installing Norton, everything else has remained the same. My usage shows Norton only at 2%, but nothing else has changed so I don't understand why this is happening. (Please keep your response fairly basic as I'm not particularly tech-savvy )

Cheers Kristy

Re: Samsung transform mobile phone battery drain

Hello MsKristyJen.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums. :smileyhappy:

I am puzzled at you having Norton Mobile Security (NMS) and Norton Anti-Theft on your device or have I misunderstood?

What version of NMS do you currently have on your device?  You can find this out by opening the app, touching the menu button and then selecting "about" it should be something like V3.2.0.770.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
