Re: Unlocking phone without password or buddie

Hello,

I'd like to know how did you exactly unlock your device without a password or a buddy ?

Re: Unlocking phone without password or buddie

Hello dainver.

Welcome to the Community.

As n_hussaini is not online and has not been for several days I will try and answer.

I assumed from the last two posts that he did have a buddy but previously the buddy had been sending the wrong message.  Once he knew the correct message all was well.  I could be wrong but that appeared to be the implication.

I hope that helps.

Hi I have tried to unlock my buddy for my galaxy note. It didn't work and I am now in Singapore now using prepaid sim card. The whole thing just block and tried every single password I know . Still don't work. Is there any way to type in the default setting password. I can be in contact on <removed> Erwin

Re: Unlocking phone without password or buddie

Hello Erwin.

Welcome to the Community.

Sorry but there is no default password, as this would rather defeat the benefits of the security app that you have paid for.  :-(

I assume that what you are saying is that your Buddy has not been able to unlock your phone with a SMS message.  As far as I am aware he should be able to.  What he needs to do is send the SMS message "unlock" - without the quotation marks and with nothing else, just the single lower case word, from the phone you designated as his "buddy" phone to yours.  As far as I am aware even if you have changed the number of your phone by putting in a new sim card this should not hinder the unlocking.

You should have more than one buddy so you could ask another one to try.

If you have an old version of Norton Mobile Security then your buddy might need to send a different message, which is

unlock 987654321

where 987654321 should be replaced by the designated phone number of your buddy, with no leading zero, no international dialing codes, no gaps and no non-numeric characters.

Finally in trying your forgotten password, remember that NMS is case sensitive.  So Password and PAssword are different as afar as it is concerned.

I hope that helps you.  Do come back and let us know what works or does not.

Good luck!

Erwin,

Could you clarify?  What did your buddy try?  Do you receive their text message?

I can hear the message being received but no message appear on the screen and I couldn't open it. I don't think I set up password anyway. [Removed] Didn't work work but hear the sound message receive but couldn't access. Any chance to unlock the code from your site without me doing anything. Erwin

Re: Unlocking phone without password or buddie

When did you install NMS and from where?  The phone number of your buddy is only required with the older versions of NMS.

To confirm, this is coming from your buddy's phone.  Have them just try the word unlock in a text message.
