Very Unhappy About Pricing for Norton Mobile

Are you folks crazy? $32 annually for Norton Mobile Security to have the full tools it had in the beta version which some of us have been using for a while now? C'mon. This is nuts. I am already paying annual fees to cover a bunch of desktop computers. You really ought to throw in Android coverage to those who already have annual subscriptions to your desktop security suites. who charges $32 for a smartphoen app? What idiot would pay that much? If you actually get enough sales volume to justify the r&d on this product, I will be amazed (mostly at how gullible people are...)

C'mon Symantec, wise up!

While I cannot comment on the decision for the price of NMS (is there a reason this was posted to the NMU board and not the NMS boar http://Norton.com/nms_support) I can mention that Lookoit mobile security (currently the top download on the market for security) charges the same price (I assume that the 32 price you mention is due to tax).

Re: Very Unhappy About Pricing for Norton Mobile

In the past, I have purchased the Norton 360 - to cover up to 3 PCs in my household: my main PC, my daughter's PC and my laptop. It was around $45, but the renewal was a bit more, I believe.

Just wondering if NORTON would do a smart package that enabled users to purchase a set that covered our desktop AND our smartphones?

I'm also gonna post and tweet this recommendation on FB and Twitter! We need some user support on this one....

We are looking into what we can do for cross platform installs.  I can't confirm when, but stay tuned.

Re: Very Unhappy About Pricing for Norton Mobile

Just for your information Lookout Security charges $2.99 a month. At least they have that option for those of us like myself that are on a fixed income! I could see possibly paying $1.99 a month for NMS. But come on! Charging $30.00 for an application when I can get AVG Pro for $9.99 a year. The only feature it doesn't have is the phone/SMS blocking. But give a break to loyal Norton users who have all ready paid $30-$69 a year for the various Norton Products like NIS 2011 which I paid $50 for last September or October. Come on Symantec, you need to price your product comparitively to other android applications. I have not seen anything else asking for $30 and by the way Lookout drains the battery and I ended up cancelling my susscription after a Verizon Tech support rep in the store told me that was what was draining my battery in a day without using it. The whole point of this is please lower your price! Cut it in half and you'll see more business for the full version. I can't afford $80 a year to spend on symantec products to protect a laptop and a phone!

Re: Very Unhappy About Pricing for Norton Mobile

I like the idea of cross-platform installs (assume that means letting people who have "surplus" Norton 360 installs use them on their mobile device(s) instead of having to buy a separate NMS license. Another helpful flexibility (for those of us who are already USING our 3 Norton 360 installs on PCs!) would be to let the $32/year NMS license cover ALL the user's mobile devices, like other Android apps. One of the big selling points of the platform has been that we don't have to buy separate app licenses for our phones AND tablets. If, for some reason, that's too much to ask, perhaps let the $32 annual subscription cover UP TO THREE mobile devices, just like its PC-based counterpart (i.e., at least follow YOUR OWN past practices!)
