External SD Card Usage under Honeycomb (3.2)

I was delighted to see the new update this morning--especially when I saw it now shows an extra line at the bottom of the "Device" screen on Honeycomb tablets that have a second (i.e., removable) SD card installed. However, it appears that the usage information the Utilities are reporting for the removable SD card is simply a repeat of the usage information for the primary (non-removable) SD card that comes in the device. In other words, I have about 20GB of apps and data on the primary SD card and NOTHING on the removable one (which the OS only just started recognizing with version 3.2)...and yet the Device screen shows EXACTLY THE SAME display for both cards.

As a possibly relevant aside, in my particular case, both cards are exactly the same size (32GB). But again, the removable one IS EMPTY, while the primary is about 2/3 full.

Interesting report DistEd2,

To enable Norton to fully follow this one up (and hopefully solve it) could you say what device you are using?

Hi Jim,

I'm seeing something similar on my Xoom as well.  I'll be sending this along to the team to take a look at.

I've confirmed that the team has been able to reproduce this as wlel and will work to fix this in the next revision.

Re: External SD Card Usage under Honeycomb (3.2)

Erik,

Just installed the new revision to the NMU Beta...and discovered that it's still reading my external SD card (almost empty) as identical to my Xoom's internal storage (almost full). Both still show exactly the same usage.

Did the update fix this issue on your Xoom?

Unfortunately this one didn't make it in. I'll see when we'll get this in. :(

Re: External SD Card Usage under Honeycomb (3.2)

Erik,

No worries--this is less of an issue as long as (unrooted) Android keeps the removable SD card read-only. Just wanted to make sure--since we'd talked about it when it looked like it would make it in--that you didn't think it was fixed when it wasn't!
